The only Web site archive we know of is the Internet
Archive Way Back Machine, containing 30 billion Web pages dating
back to January, 1996. Their Terms
Of Use indicates that their automated crawler respects a robots.txt
exclusion, and that they are apparently willing to remove documents
from their archive upon request from the original author or publisher.
While it may be referred to as the frivolous-sounding "ego-surfing,"
we strongly suggest going to various Web search engines and simply typing
in your name. You might be surprised at what you find.
Keep in mind that, any time you publish anything on the Web, anyone
can then download it and keep it.
Think very carefully before posting any photographs of yourself on
the Web. The same goes for identifying information like full name, address,
phone number, etc.
Think about it: If you don't want random strangers showing up at your
door, why would you give them your physical home address? If you don't
want phone calls from random strangers, why would you give them your
number?
